I’ve been reading the best-selling novel 50 Shades of Grey, written by British author E. L. James.  Set in Seattle Washington for the most part, the first installment of the trilogy focuses on the growing relationship between Anastasia Steele, a virgin college graduate, and Christian Grey, a wealthy, young, and controlling business person.

Anastasia struggles with her lover’s sexual preferences of BDSM and is unsure whether she can accommodate to his lifestyle.  One minute she loves it and the next she is fearful of the emotional and physical pain that is incurred in this type of relationship.

In a nutshell, he and she battle against each other’s definition of touch.  One yearning to feel the touch of her lover’s skin, while the other wanting to induce a specific amount of pain that brings him ultimate satisfaction.

The book is written very much in layman’s terms (so don’t leave it laying around for the kids) and is filled with erotic sex scenes, which includes some ice, a flapper, some serious spankings, and a lot of hard nipples.  I expected more as I listened to the buzz around the proverbial social media kitchen table.

There has been an exciting development as women around the world try to get their hands on a hard copy of 50 Shades of Grey. Rumour has it that Angelina Jolie may be in talks with Universal Films to direct the first film.  Universal Films denies having such a meeting but would gladly welcome Jolie’s involvement in such a project.

Well……..if anyone can direct erotic, we know that sultry Angelina can.   Over the years, Angelina has made no secret about her bisexual tendencies, her love of sex, being in control, and the fact that Brad takes very good care of her in the bedroom.

Not only would Angelina’s sensuality bring experience to the film, but it would also lend a lot of credibility in order to cast solid leading roles.   If 10 years younger, she could pull of the role of Anatastia Steele on a dime!

Who do you see playing the roles of Christian Grey and Anatastia Steele?

My thoughts sway towards Emma Watson of Harry Potter for the role of Anatastia.  She’s just the right age with an innocent look, but I’m wondering if she’s experienced enough to dive into the role of exploring and enjoying her sexual desires?

For the late 20 something, rich control freak Christian Grey, I think Ryan Gosling could play the part very well.  Is he old or young?  I’m too old to judge.

What are your thoughts of 50 Shades of Grey? Should I continue reading?

Comments are always welcome on both!
