Mikhael-Kale-Fashion-Week-TorontoMikhael Kale presented his highly anticipated Spring/Summer 2013 Collection inside the famed Corkin Gallery located in the heart of the city’s historic Distillery district. The presentation proved to exceed all expectations drawing a who’s who crowd from the worlds of fashion, media, society and music.

Kale’s latest collection is inspired by photographer Nigel Scott’s ‘Conversations with Blue’. Nigel Scott’s images reflect his relationship with the ocean and embody his signature style – elegant, articulate and sublime. Mikhael related to Nigel’s innate need to expel, to converse and to comprehend the notion of infinity. This led him to experiment with the printing of tie dyed and desaturated tones of blue. The results are featured in the hand detailed and fine tailored SS13 Collection. Mikhael couldn’t be more proud of the Presentation saying quote “Nigel Scott’s ‘Conversations With Blue’ inspired me to begin experimenting with print for SS13. I became familiar with his work through the Corkin Gallery. It was important for me to present near Scott’s work and within the environment that fueled this season in so many ways.”

When it comes to fashion, Mikhael sees it as storytelling and is drawn to the stories of women who tend to sit to the ‘left’ of society. His supporting film for Spring/Summer 2013 is a window into the fascinating life of Jane Corkin, an independent, self-made art gallery owner and collector. Jane Corkin has been instrumental in developing international art and photography in Canada. Mikhael’s true friendship with her allows a delightfully expressive result and candid look into her larger than life personality.

Guests at last night’s Exclusive Presentation included Suzanne Rogers, Sylvia Mantella, The Room’s Nicholas Mellamphy, Elle’s Denis Desro, Nolan Bryant, singer Cory Lee and of course Jane Corkin owner of the Corkin Gallery. The unique space was transformed for one night only thanks to Jodie Katz of Social Butterfly and Roseanna Plutino Managing Director for Mikhael Kale. Marilisa Sears and her hair team and Sheri Stroh along with her makeup team finished off the models looks perfectly. DJ membersonly kept the crowd entertained while they enjoyed delicious food from renowned caterer Louise Prete Fine Foods, sipped on signature Mikhael Kale blue cocktails, Veuve Rose and Perrier.
