Reese and Jim Arrested
Reese Witherspoon and husband, Jim Toth were briefly jailed last Friday morning when Toth was pulled over for suspicion of driving intoxicated. He was arrested for DUI. During the questioning, Witherspoon exited the vehicle and started verbally sparring with a police officer, which inevitably ended up in her being arrested for disorderly conduct.
The report states, “Mrs. Witherspoon asked, ‘Do you know my name?’ I answered, ‘No, I don’t need to know your name.’ I then added, ‘right now.’ Mrs. Witherspoon stated, ‘You’re about to find out who I am.’ ”
I look at this incident and shake my head. I have always been a huge fan of Reese Witherspoon and will continue to be. However, when will the expectation of preferential treatment end? Reese does not come off as a woman who believes that she is “higher than”, but her intoxicated self sure believes that she superior than the law.
I firmly believe that no matter who you are. Whether you’re the bum on the street or an Oscar winning actress, the law is the law and every judge should look at the crime rather than their class level.
It’ll be interesting to see how this all pans out on May 22 when she appears in court.
