Today I’ll be giving CanSpace Solutions a review as I recently tested their web hosting and domain name registration services. They claim to be Canada’s leading domain registrar and web hosting provider, and I wanted to put that to the test.
I was pleasantly surprised by a few things – as normally I don’t come to expect a ton of value from most companies in this space (I’ve had some especially terrible service from some companies like GoDaddy and other Canadian web hosts). The first thing that stood out to me about CanSpace were their prices.
1. The cheapest domains, period
I did a pretty intensive search for reputable domain name registrars, and by far CanSpace has the cheapest domains around ($9.75 Canadian). They’re also named the leading registrar by CIRA, which helped me build trust in the company and make my decision.
Their domains aren’t the only things that are cheap. You can find really great hosting packages at a good price.
2. Hosting is cheap, fast and reliable
Most of the companies I dealt with in the past offered “Unlimited” hosting packages which I found out were just a marketing tactic and not really true. So when I signed up for those crazy deals I found my website went super slow, it would go down, and they would constantly be asking me to upgrade or buy other stuff. CanSpace web hosting packages start at $5 a month (Canadian, another bonus… no exchange rate and cheaper than US Dollars), which should be suitable for most website owners. And the higher-level packages are very reasonably priced as well.
3. They actually offer support
Another big thing for me is having people to actually answer my emails and live chat questions. A lot of the time I run into things I don’t understand in the website world, and I need to have a company that is there for me when I have these questions. CanSpace has definitely been there to guide me along when I have issues. Their support team is awesome and they also have a ton of great resources for clients and on their blog that help with common questions.
