Counting the Days to the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival

It’s our mother and daughter summer vacation.  I absolutely love being part of Toronto’s excitement of glitz, glamour, celebrities, paparazzi, and random events.  We’ve been doing this for three years now and I consider ourselves well versed in what TIFF has to offer.  Sure, we attend some of the screenings but most of the time, you can find us attending events or strolling down Bloor Street.  Last year, I volunteered, which was an experience that really didn’t fulfill me. Mayor Ford Homophobe or A Simple Family Man?

This is a response to Barbara Kay’s article “Rob Ford’s sin against the catechism of gender correctness” I truly advocate the thought process of “Family First” and “Mother/Father Before Employee” attitude.  When I first heard that Mayor Ford was not attending the gay pride parade because he was going to the cottage, my first impression was “What a jerk!”   However, after reviewing a few articles and Barbara Kay’s article, I realize that this has been a family tradition for Mr. Ford and his family for decades.  For that, I fully support his decision to enjoy the Canada Day weekend with his family.
