Colin James continues to impress following the release of his 2024 album Chasing The Sun. His latest single, “Protection,” featuring the legendary Lucinda Williams, now has an official music video shot in Nashville. Williams, who penned the track, also makes a special appearance in the video.
“This song was written by Lucinda, and I was thrilled she agreed to sing on it and join us for the video shoot,” James shared. “She’s a treasure. Hope you enjoy!”
Originally featured on Williams’ 2014 album Down Where The Spirit Meets The Bone, “Protection” became a late addition to James’ Chasing The Sun. Speaking with Terry David Mulligan on the Mulligan Stew podcast, James recalled how the cover came to life: “It was a last-minute choice, but it worked out perfectly. After a nice dinner with Lucinda, she laid down the vocals the next day.”
In addition to the video release, Chasing The Sun has been dominating the charts, topping the Roots Music Canada Album Chart for eight consecutive weeks. The album, co-produced by James and Colin Linden, has been gaining steady momentum since its release in late August.
