This week is a celebration. My husband is turning forty. We’ve been together since we’ve been 15 years old. Boy, the trials and tribulations that we’ve been through. It’s been hard, but it’s been great. We’ve had the perseverance to get through the hard times and come out even more in love today than we were in our 20’s. We could have given up so many times. I was a spoiled brat at times, while at other times, he was a complete jerk. However, we grow, we change, and we adapt until we can finally come together.
The only advice I can give (coming into my 40’s) to newlyweds is to persevere. Don’t give up because of money, don’t give up because of arguing, SIMPLY don’t give up because there’s too many good times to be had. In most cases, if you have children, this person is the only person who will love your children as much as you do. The grass is very rarely greener on the other side.
We’ve got two beautiful teenagers with their own personalities. They are the light of our lives. My husband works like a son of a gun for his family. He’s a compulsive gamer and an avid movie watcher. If you don’t see him in his work shirt, you can pretty much guarantee that he’s in front of the television. He understands the quote, “Work hard, play hard”
Toby’s family will be arriving over the next few days from Gaspe, Quebec. We are very excited to have them here. Toby knows nothing and the party is Saturday night. I can’t wait.
Now I have three days left to prepare, chop, setup and throw the party. Quite the task while he’s around the house.
I hope everyone has a fabulous day! Here’s to a wonderful 2011!
