I have never been the type of person to leave my family for a “Girl’s Weekend”. The weekends that I have had with the girl’s has always been pleasant, however, after careful consideration I have to say that my most special Pink Network Weekend was with my daughter.
As a mother, I’m very fortunate to have a 16-year-old daughter who actually enjoys being with her mom. Most of the time, our travels are event-driven, but my most memorable weekend was an impromptu trip to Niagara Falls. It was a damp day in March, but that didn’t stop us.
We toured the Falls, went to the Movieland Wax Museum, and took in the Oh Canada Eh? Dinner Show. It was a quiet and relaxing weekend where we reconnected and took our relationship to a new level.
They grow up so quickly and one day, we’ll be walking her down the aisle and she’ll be tending to her own family. I feel that I’m very blessed. I think every Mom should embrace this fact and treasure every moment with their daughter. They are truly our best friends.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Telus is donating $400 in my name to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation for participating. Approximately 23,200 Canadian women and 180 men were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010. This is a distressing number of people who may have to wait the typical 33 days from first noticing a lump to learning if they have breast cancer.
Furthermore, TELUS will donate $25 to The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation for every pink BlackBerry Curve 9360 sold during the month of October. Visit their website to learn more about how Telus is making a difference to women across the country.
I go for regular breast screenings as I want to continue to embrace my daughter and family for many years to come. I ask that you retweet this blog post and support Telus’ breast cancer campaign.
Cheers to all of my friends! Celebrate your breast friends today on Facebook.
