Dick Clark, producer of American Bandstand and best known for Dick Clark’s New Years Rockin’ Eve, died today at the age of 82. Dick Clark suffered a massive heart attack after entering St. John’s Hospital, in Santa Monica, Tuesday night for an outpatient procedure (According to Family). It was unsuccessful to resuscitate.
Dick was obviously known for having a good times, music and much more!!
After Dick’s stroke in 2004 that left him partially paralyzed and struggling to speak, Regis Philbin had filled his spot at the bash that is held every New Year’s Eve in time square! By the next New Year’s Eve, Dick was back! Dick struggled a bit with speaking since his stroke did leave him impaired to speak but he told the audience,
“I had to teach myself how to walk and talk again. It’s been a long, hard fight. My speech is not perfect but I’m getting there.”-Dick Clark
I can honestly say I believe that Dick Clark had a long, beautiful and happy life with a beautiful wife and three children.
Since 1977, Dick Clark ruled New Year’s Eve in Time Square, and to be honest, I don’t think it’ll ever be the same without Dick counting it down with us.
Here is a video of the ball dropping in time square starting from 1977- 2011 (Missing 1992)
