Yes indeed. Jennifer Lawrence did beat Meryl Streep.
Jennifer Lawrence, 22, took home Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globe Awards last night. One can only imagine her reaction a few weeks ago, when the nominations were announced. For a young actress, she was probably shocked. Upon hearing that she was up against Meryl Streep, she probably thought that she didn’t stand a chance. And that was that.
Pretty dress, pretty shoes, diamonds……… but a win? INSANITY
….But she did it.
When Jennifer Lawrence accepted her award, the first thing that came out of her mouth into the microphone was…”I beat Meryl.”
As I perused the Golden Globe reviews this morning, I was taken aback with the Fox News article written today in reference to Jennifer’s acceptance speech.
“When you’re 22 and you’ve been in Hollywood for, like, a minute? Not very classy, Jen.” – Fox News
Seriously, this was a 22-year-old girl who won the coveted award. I can only imagine the right term for Jennifer Lawrence’s surprise would be “shock and awe” upon realizing that she indeed beat Meryl Streep, who wins everything.
All I can say is that I’m incredibly proud of this young actress and I hope that her ride to the Oscars is as prosperous as this one. Everyone deserves a break.
