Well if it isn’t chicken, it’s egg….but both come from a chicken and both equally delectable.

As a kid, I loved chicken, but it wasn’t found in my lunchbox on a daily basis.  I remember those precious moments when I’d open my lunchbox and breathe a sigh of relief when I would see white meat between a bun or two slices of bread.  (A kid can only take so much peanut butter)

That is until Grade 4 where I held a protest that I would never eat another peanut butter sandwich again!!  To this day, I’ve never eaten a untoasted peanut butter sandwich.  After that, I had a wide variety of items in my lunch, but chicken became a familiar sight.  (I should have done it sooner had I known)  I was blessed to live in a middle-income family.

However, some children are not as fortunate.

Chicken is awesome and there is a campaign taking place right now that is of vital importance especially in the Kitchener Waterloo Region.   Last year, the Food Bank of Waterloo Region was well under quota food wise.  They simply could not keep up with the ever growing community of people who requires the help of the food bank to feed their family.

Hunger affects everyone – and over 40% of the people who use food banks in Canada are children.

Here’s the kicker!  This is a chance for you to make a difference and give back!  The Everyone Wins With Canadian Chicken campaign wants to get all Members of Parliament to submit their favourite chicken breast sandwich recipe for a chance to win!

Waterloo Region Members of Parliament – What is your fave chicken recipe?

So what is  your favorite Chicken Sandwich Recipe, Gary Goodyear?  Do you prefer chicken salad with celery?  Quick, easy, and more for tomorrow?

Harold Albrecht?  Do you love your chicken with a little dijon mustard? Healthy, with a little je ne sais qua?

Hey, centre of it all Stephen Woodworth? You look like you could take your chicken crispy in your sandwich? Chicken on the run?

And what about you Peter Braid?  Are you a chicken, lettuce and tomato in a wrap kinda guy?  Light on the gluten?

As a resident of the Waterloo Region, I dare you to take this challenge!

Go ahead Mr. MP’s, share your chicken breast sandwich recipe and perhaps our area can be ahead of the game with a chance to win $10,000 to our local food bank?  Perhaps one will come in second and win $5000 and another will come in 3rd prize which is $2000!  Imagine that, a potential of winning $17,000 for our Waterloo Region Food Banks!

You would have to be a few pennies short if you didn’t join in the fun!

Above all, the winning recipe will also be served to over 10,000 people at the 20th Annual Great Canadian Chicken BBQ in Ottawa on Canada Day!    Imagine that, politics and chicken!  What a great lifetime achievement!
