Off the heels of an eventful week at South By Southwest, GRAMMY-nominated, Platinum-certified singer-songwriter, Cassadee Pope, shares her brand new single, “Eye Contact.” Co-written by CassadeeMitch Marlow and Devon Lewow, the punchy track divulges on experiences of betrayal and its lasting impacts. With this release, Cassadee hopes listeners will know it’s okay to hurt, and the healing process isn’t linear. “Eye Contact” gives both her and her audience an outlet to scream out those negative emotions and heal from the past.

Speaking on the song, Cassadee shares, “I wanted to write a song about the lasting effects a liar has on someone else. Sometimes the very thought of maintaining eye contact with someone after being betrayed can feel impossible. I wanted to compliment the lyric with a heavy approach sonically and I feel like that really gets the frustration across.

Last year, Cassadee made her triumphant return to pop-punk with the release of her single, “People That I Love Leave.” Having started her career as the frontwoman of beloved, pop-punk band, Hey Monday, “People That I Love Leave” marked a return to form for Cassadee. The track was incredibly well received upon its release, garnering the attention of outlets such as Ones to Watch, American Songwriter, Rock Sound, idobi Radio, All Punked Up, The Honey Pop and more.

Following that, she shared her bold and sensual single, “Almost There,” joined fellow vocal powerhouse Taylor Acorn for “Coma,” and to cap off 2023, she shared a new rock version of her massive hit, “Wasting All These Tears,” in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the song. Produced by Cassadee and former Hey Monday bandmate, Alex Lipshaw, this version breathes a new life into the seminal track and marks a full circle moment for Cassadee as she further cements her place in the scene.

Over the last 15 years, Cassadee Pope has been a lot of things to a lot of people: leader of seminal pop-punk band Hey Monday. Season 3 winner of The Voice. Platinum-selling (“Wasting All These Tears”), GRAMMY-nominated (“Think of You,” a duet with Chris Young) country singer/songwriter. Ally and activist pushing for social change and a brighter future in a backward world.

But through it all – the Warped Tour parking lots, tours with Fall Out Boy and Yellowcard, CMT Awards and chart-topping singles – she’s always remained fearlessly, unapologetically herself. Now, Pope returns with her most joyously authentically statement yet, effortlessly sliding into the ebullient pop-punk sound that defined the late ’00s with unbridled energy, sugar pill melodies and away message-ready wordplay.

Now, with a tremendous sense of freedom guiding her and a forthcoming album set to once again amplify her confessional writing and redefine her place as a pop-punk mainstay, the future’s open wide in ways she previously thought impossible – leaving no doubt she’s exactly where she’s meant to be.
