Republic Live, the event organizers behind the inagural Boots and Hearts Festival taking place this coming August 10th – 12th have not only assembled an amazing line-up of artists, but have also developed a music festival like no other with activities and entertainment galore that promises to be kid-friendly. A giant midway with oversized ferris wheel, NASCAR simulators, bull riding, hay bale tosses, beach volleyball, morning yoga with WWE champ Trish Stratus, a Family Zone along with a partnership with the world famous Bowmanville Zoo will ensure there is something for everyone to enjoy.    Festival organizers are pleased to offer families free passes for all children 10 years of age and under.

The Music

“The big  music acts at Boots and Hearts is going to be the number one reason people want to attend, but the festival is so much more than that,” says Shannon McNevan, Executive Director, Republic Live.  “People are going to be spending 72 hours of their lives here so it was critical we had interactive entertainment for everyone.   There are so many options for people and we want parents to know that this is a family friendly event – all kids under 10 get in for free. I can’t think of a better way to introduce kids to music than by taking them away for the weekend and emersing them in a wholesome festival atmosphere with lots of fun activities and some of the greatest musical legends of our time.  Imagine sitting with your kids, eating a wagon wheel, listening to Carrie Underwood perform live under the stars, that’s something they’ll never forget.”

For the Kids

The KidZone has been designed for children ages 2 – 12 and offers a variety of activities for children including bouncy castles, arts and crafts activities, ball tosses, and an interactive animal exhibit with some furry and feathered friends provided by the Bowmanville Zoo.  Parents are encouraged to consider the festival as a great weekend getaway for the whole family to spend some time together, enjoy some world famous musical acts and create some great memories together.

For the kids at heart, Boomtown will be one of the places to be and the Midway offers all the entertainment you would expect at a world’s fair.  There will also be many independent merchants with one of a kind items and food vendors to tempt the tastebuds. For festival goers who prefer to relax with a cool one in hand, the 750 square acre venue, with the exception of the Family Zone, has been licensed for alcohol, which means you can watch your favorite artist enjoying your favorite beverage anywhere on site. Many competitions will be taking place over the weekend at Boots and Hearts including the Mechanical Bull Ride, Best Dressed Country Chic and the Miss Boots and Hearts competition which will be judged by a panel of NHL pros.  The Boots &Hearts i-phone app will be available for download this week on i-tunes providing site maps, festival information and full schedule.
