On Friday, September 9th, in the midst of the glamour of the Toronto International Film Festival, Toronto will play host to a Commonwealth-British Empire Championship bout! “Dangerous” Denton Daley of Brampton Ontario will face current Canadian Champion Sylvera “Sly” Louis of Montreal, Quebec over 12 championship rounds. The famed Masonic Temple on Yonge Street has played host to many celebrated performers including the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and Frank Sinatra but on September 9th a new energy will be on display, the sizzling dynamic of professional, championship boxing!
Denton “Dangerous” Daley:
Denton Daley is an outstanding Canadian boxer with 15 wins in16 professional bouts. He has collected both the NABA and NABF Cruiserweight titles before facing his only setback in a WBA world title bout. Always, ready, always conditioned, always focused on the singular goal of becoming World Cruiserweight Champion this is Denton Daley, he does not “play” boxing, he fights.
Sylvera “Sly” Louis:
Sly Louis was an outstanding amateur boxer who spent two years on Canada’s National Team. In 2007 he was Canada’s “Boxer of the Year”, an award previously won by luminaries such as Lennox Lewis and Shawn O’Sullivan.
As a professional Sly is the current Canadian Cruiserweight Champion, a title he won here in Toronto at Maple Leaf Gardens in 2014 and has continued to hold on to. Sly hails from Montreal, Quebec where he owns his own gym and mentors young boxers as well as athletes of other disciplines. He is no stranger to boxing on the road and has fought in Ontario 4 times previously – including a victory over current Canadian Heavyweight Champion Dillon Carman in 2013.
