One of the most covered bands of all time Cheap Trick performed to 5,000 fans on March 24, 2017 at Caesars Windsor. Bassist Tom Peterson and Guitarist Rick Neilsen brought us back to the days when guitar solos ruled and technology was a simple plug-in of an amplifier. Remember those days? We don’t see them often anymore and I believe that is why 70’s legends, like Cheap Trick, can still fill a room. It’s all about the music.
While some on social media lamented about the music being so loud, I was 10 rows back and thought it was perfect for an evening of rocking out. Lead singer Robin Zander belted out new and old familiar melodies like he was still 25 and seeking stardom. Pretty amazing for a group in their 60’s.
Over all, the group’s legendary songs ‘The Flame’, ‘Surrender’ and ‘Dream Police’ had everyone on their feet. Personally, I’d like a mix throughout the show of new and old, but that’s just the way Rock and Roll works. One saves the best for last. Fantastic night!
After the concert, Robin Zander surprised the Casino attendees by making a brief appearance on the Casino floor with the house band. It was amazing!
