Today, GRAMMY-nominated, Platinum-certifiedsinger-songwriter, Cassadee Pope has released her long awaited album, Hereditary, marking The Voice winner’s first full length following her shift from country back to her pop punk roots. The announcement pairs with the release of her music video for “More To Me”, the first song Cassadee wrote knowing she wanted to leave country music. Hearing herself this way for the first time in years was the catalyst that solidified her decision to reenter the rock world.

As the voice behind the iconic 2000s pop punk group Hey Monday, the dynamic songstress known for her country crossover success makes a triumphant return to her roots with Hereditary. The album, that GRAMMY.com named as one of their top 15 Must-Hear Albums In July, is an emotional rollercoaster ride through the ups and downs of life, love and self-discovery. Each track is a testament to the journey we embark on, shaped by our upbringing and the legacies passed down through generations. Whether that’s love, betrayal or the intricate web of family dynamics, the title Hereditary captures the essence of our roots, the echoes of our past and the quest to carve our own path.
“This album follows my journey of self discovery so closely that I feel a little nervous to share certain things. But I needed to let it out. Creating this album was like a 2 year therapy session that continues to be there for me even after its completion”, shares Cassadee.
“More To Me,” is an empowering, honest track about taking your power back from someone who has wronged you in the past. Written from a place of closure while acknowledging and processing the negative effects of an experience, the song tells the tale of how resentment and grudges can be draining and toxic. The moment you let it go, you’re set free.
Cassadee shares: “I remember feeling this weight lifted off my shoulders when I stopped letting anger consume me. The resentment was like a blanket I thought was keeping me warm but all it did was prolong the pain. It was important for me to write this because I wanted to capture that moment where I felt free for the first time. It’s sometimes quick and easy to miss, but I didn’t want to forget that feeling.”
On previous single “Three of Us,” released just in time for Mental Health Month, Cassadee invites listeners to confront the darkness of addiction and embrace the power of empathy, compassion and community.
But through it all – the Warped Tour parking lots, tours with Fall Out Boy and Yellowcard,CMT Awards and chart-topping singles – she’s always remained fearlessly, unapologetically herself. 15 years into her career, her confessional writing continues to redefine her place as a pop punk mainstay as she enters this renaissance with a new found sense of freedom.
Cassadee is now touring the record this July, on her U.S. Headlining Hereditary Tour. The tour will be making stops throughout the country, having kicked off July 11 in Anaheim, California and visiting Los Angeles, Knoxville, Albany, Charleston and more before wrapping on July 31 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Up next, she will be joining Marianas Trench on their US Tour this fall. Tickets and more information can be found here and here.
