Gearing up for his seventh studio album release next month, Thomas Rhett shares new music from his upcoming album ABOUT A WOMAN, set to drop on August 23 via The Valory Music Co. Today, he released “Overdrive,” a catchy, chill-country anthem that captures the essence of small-town living—unforgettable summer nights, Friday night football games, late-night joyrides, and young love. Co-written by Thomas Rhett, this track is a nostalgic tribute to the excitement of picking up a date. With memories rushing back with every turn of the ignition and sung through visions of moonlit cruises with the windows down, the song reminds fans of the timeless freedom of two hearts and a hand-me-down Ford. Listen to “Overdrive” here and watch the official lyric video here. The official music video, starring his younger brother Tyler Lankford and featuring a vintage, two-toned Ford F250, is also out now—watch it here and pre-order ABOUT A WOMAN here.
“Overdrive” follows the release of the upbeat, twangy track “Gone Country,” named “One of the Best Country Songs of the Summer” by Country Now, and the heart-pounding lead single “Beautiful As You.” “Beautiful As You” has amassed over 47 million global streams and topped the UK Country Radio Airplay chart for multiple weeks. A heartfelt tribute to his wife Lauren Akins, Thomas Rhett performed the song at the 59th Academy of Country Music Awards, on NBC’s The Voice finale, and ABC’s CMA Fest.
Produced primarily by Dann Huff and Julian Bunetta, ABOUT A WOMAN features high tempos and tight melodies, blending organic country with layers of retro ‘80s sounds and thumping beats across its fourteen tracks. All but one track was co-written by Thomas Rhett, showcasing his powerful songwriting and the stadium-rocking charisma that has made him one of country music’s most dynamic modern superstars.
Last week, Thomas Rhett also released the electric “Feelin’ Country” from Twisters: The Album, the musical companion to the upcoming film Twisters (Universal Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, and Amblin Entertainment). The song has been praised for its infectious melody and Thomas Rhett’s skillful handling of a ‘90s country vibe.
With a laid-back perspective and a vocal style drenched in casual country soul, Thomas Rhett has achieved 22 No. 1 hits, 16 billion streams, and numerous awards over his 10-year career, including eight ACM Awards, two CMA Awards, five GRAMMY® Award nominations, and multiple accolades from the CMT Music Awards, Billboard Awards, and iHeartRadio Awards. Known for his energetic and emotional live shows, Thomas Rhett has announced a mini-residency in December at the BleauLive Theater inside Fontainebleau Las Vegas. He has also launched a tequila brand, Dos Primos, now offering Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo variants. For more information, visit ThomasRhett.com.
