Rising artist and ACM Award-winning songwriter Greylan James has joined forces with country music star Cole Swindell for their new single, “Things That I Can’t Change,” now available via Nashville Harbor Records & Entertainment. The song, penned by James along with Jared Mullins, Rocky Block, and Brock Berryhill, offers a melodic and introspective take on grappling with past mistakes and the growth they inspire.
The idea for the collaboration sparked during a casual game of golf between the two friends and frequent co-writers. After completing the track, James shared the demo with Swindell, who was immediately drawn to the song’s message and eagerly agreed to collaborate. Swindell’s belief in James’ potential as both a songwriter and an artist made him the ideal partner for this heartfelt project.
“I think ‘Things That I Can’t Change’ embodies what country music is all about: storytelling that resonates with real-life experiences,” shared James. “The song reflects on those moments we aren’t proud of but shows how we can learn and grow from them. It’s about accepting that while we can’t change the past, we can allow it to change us for the better.”
Swindell echoed the sentiment, saying, “I’ve been a fan of Greylan since our first writing session together. His voice and delivery are something special. When he asked me to join him on ‘Things That I Can’t Change,’ I was honored. It’s a fantastic song with a message that I think many people, including myself, can relate to. I’m excited to see where this song takes him and grateful to be part of it.”
“Things That I Can’t Change” is now streaming on all major platforms.
