Bad Winter Driving Conditions in Ontario. Do You Have Roadside Assistance?

CAA Roadside ASsistanceWell my parents have finally arrived for the holidays.  It was a 22-hour drive from Gaspe, Quebec to Cambridge, Ontario.   They didn’t leave on the best of weekends as an incredible amount of snow fell in Ontario and Quebec.

When loved ones are on the road during the holiday season, sometimes the anticipation for Christmas can be overruled by the anxious feeling that even experienced drivers, like my father, utilizing winter tires (which are mandatory in Quebec) can lose control on black ice.   It is my considered opinion that it is so important to have roadside assistance should your vehicle finds its way off the road.

Just recently, my friend lost her son to a tragic accident on Highway 401.  It was due to a sleepy driver behind him and also poor weather conditions on Halloween night.  While most accidents do not end in such a tragedy when driving on the 401, it made me think about how I can arm my daughter, who is a new driver, with the best possible tools to ensure that if she is stranded on the highway she can reach out for help.

I’ve had a CAA membership for a long time.  It has always been under my name which doesn’t allow her to take advantage of the services.    With services like towing, auto repair, and fantastic discounts, it seems like a mandatory service to give  to her this year.

Here are a few great reasons why a CAA membership may be the best gift for your new driver or elderly parents in your life!

  • CAA Members get access to towing services*, battery replacement, flat tire service, emergency fuel & delivery, lockout services and Member-exclusive savings and rewards.

*Basic Members receive four tows up to 10 km, Plus Members receive four tows up to 200 km and Premier Members receive one tow up to 320 km and four tows up to 200 km within CAA South Central Ontario territory.

  • Roadside Assistance** from CAA is available 24/7, 365 days a year.***Certain exclusions, limitations and restrictions apply. Please see Terms & Conditions for coverage details.

At Life’s a Blog, we want everyone to gather with family and friends and have peace of mind knowing that everyone has armed themselves with reliable roadside assistance this holiday season.
